Exmoor is a place full of beauty, the national park offers breathtaking coastlines with dramatic cliffs and glorious beaches, miles of wild open moors and woodland carpeted with exquisite bluebells and snowdrops during spring and early summer. Picturesque towns, villages and seaside resorts full of character are scattered throughout the region, each one with a very good reason for you to pay it a visit.

Being a National Park ensures that particular care and attention is paid to the environment, wild animals such as the Exmoor Pony and Red Deer roam freely in designated areas. The lush vibrant landscape ensures that bird life thrive with grey wagtails, buzzards and kestrels common place.

Exmoor is a tranquil part of Britain were the pace of life lags well behind what most people today consider the norm, local towns and villages seem untouched by time, locals are happy to stop and chat helping to create the ideal environment for rest and relaxation.

Around 11,000 people live in Exmoor with the largest towns being Lynton, Porlock and Dulverton. The sparse population makes it easy to find peace and tranquility, with untold areas of natural beauty that seem undiscovered to explore.

R.D. Blackmoore author of Lorna Doone bases his novel around many of the areas in Exmoor. It is possible to visit areas that are mentioned in the book, you will for example find the Church were Lorna married in the village of Oare. Windsford is a perfect little village with a number of bridges crossing the village stream.
